Ponti’s Italian Kitchen, has been awarded the coveted Ospitalità Italiana certification, which is conferred upon a select group of restaurants around the world that can demonstrate an unfailing Italian distinctiveness.
The family of restaurants in Oxford Circus and Fox Valley, Sheffield, have both gained the kite mark-style award from Camere di Commercio D’Italia, the Italian Chamber of Commerce equivalent, after demonstrating the quality standard that meets the label: ‘Italian hospitality, Italian Restaurants in the World’.
Ponti’s had to demonstrate an unbending commitment to an authentic Italian thread in the seven-phase process, which covers front of house, through the entire menu and wine list, the kitchen operations, and perhaps most importantly of all, the use of products covered by PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication).
‘It was a proud moment for me to receive the award at the Royal Horticultural Halls on behalf of the company,’ said Gabriella Bassi, who sources all of Ponti’s ingredients. ‘We spend a huge amount of time researching producers in the northern Italian region of Emila-Romagna and all around Italy, and this award sets the seal on our approach to quality and authenticity.’
